Woop Drive is removing some of the biggest pain points of car rental for UK tourists: counters, paperwork, and frozen deposits, as it launches fully digital rentals across Greece, Spain, Montenegro, Seychelles, and the UAE.

As millions of UK travellers head abroad each year for short breaks and package holidays, Woop Drive has launched a fully digital car rental platform aimed at removing one of the most complained-about parts of the journey: airport rental desks. The service is now live across Greece, Spain, Montenegro, the UAE and Seychelles, some of the UK’s top destinations, allowing tourists to unlock and return cars using only their smartphone.

This marks a new stage for ‘outdated car rental experiences,’ company CEO, Ričardas Šukys, said. The platform eliminates the need for rental desks, physical keys, paperwork, queues, and mandatory credit cards, along with other benefits for tourists.

This solution comes as the travel industry reaches new heights. According to the latest data by the International Air Transport Association, air traffic passenger levels have been increasing ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, grew every year, and are predicted to surpass 5 billion in 2026.

“Renting a car right after you land in your destination country usually means added stress, time constraints, and hurry. Nobody wants to spend their first vacation hours at the rental desk when you’ve already booked yours online. But that’s what happens. We knew this process could be simplified and become as easy as ordering food through an app.”

A recent study by J.D. Power, “North America Rental Car Satisfaction,” also revealed that skipping the counter alone results in 36% faster pick-up and increases customer satisfaction by up to 8%.

“We’re already booking hotels and checking in online 24/7 without any issues. Biggest leap in convenience will always be full automation, and we’re finally bringing it to the car rental industry,” Šukys added.

As of now, you can expect to wait close to an hour at the rental desks during peak hours. This process doesn’t solely depend on car rental companies, and it can be affected by external issues such as frequent flight delays or how busy airports are at that moment.

Though Woop Drive, the unpredictable manual process is replaced by a fully app-based one.

Despite time spent at the counter, the car rental process often poses other unexpected issues. The single most common cause of rental rejection at the counter is payment-related problems. A key difference from other similar platforms is that Woop Drive won’t require customers to freeze large security deposits, either.

As of launch, more than 15,000 vehicles are available across the platform's network, and both airport pickup and hotel delivery will be possible. Šukys emphasised that their platform only works by integrating with professional rental fleets, ensuring insured, highest quality vehicles that are fully keyless.

Coral Travel, one of Europe’s largest and most established tour operators, is the first major company to partner with Woop Drive. Operating across more than 15 countries and serving millions of travellers every year, it will add Woop’s platform to their services.

“Tourists often complain about the car rentals, and frankly, there were no simple solutions for that up until now. We’re glad to finally provide a service that will ensure that every holiday starts smoothly,” said Olga Belova, Marketing Director of Coral Travel Baltic.

The international rollout puts pressure on legacy rental models built around manual processes and physical handovers. Woop Drive’s launch in Greece, Spain, Montenegro, the UAE, and Seychelles marks a step toward making desk-free, keyless rentals a standard option in high-traffic tourist destinations.

Further market launches are planned through 2026.
