Parliamentary Boundary changes - your home may now be in a different constituency

There will be a General Election on Thursday 4 July 2024.

A General Election is when Members of Parliament are elected for all the constituencies across the UK. 

Residents in North East Lincolnshire are in one of two geographical constituencies – Great Grimsby & Cleethorpes or Brigg & Immingham. 

The Great Grimsby & Cleethorpes constituency is wholly within North East Lincolnshire and the constituency of Brigg & Immingham extends beyond our boundaries into the administrative area of North Lincolnshire.

Constituency boundary changes

The area of the two constituencies has changed since the last general election in 2019.  As such, some electors will now find that their homes are now in different constituencies.

This is not a Council decision, it follows a review by the Boundary Commission for England.

Key changes are as follows:

Great Grimsby Constituency be renamed ‘Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes Borough Constituency’

Cleethorpes Constituency be renamed ‘Brigg and Immingham County Constituency’

Ward changes:

Croft Baker, Haverstoe and Sidney Sussex Wards have been included in the Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes Borough Constituency.

Scartho Ward has been included in the Brigg and Immingham County Constituency.

• 7 June 2024 – publication of Statement of Persons Nominated
• 18 June 2024 - deadline for application to register to vote - https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
• ‍19 June 2024 5pm - deadline for new postal vote applications or change / cancel an existing postal or proxy appointment - https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
• 26 June 2024 5pm - deadline for proxy vote applications - https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
• 26 June 2024 5pm - deadline for the free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC) applications (to meet the requirements for Voter ID in a polling station) - https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
