The summer holidays kicked off in style as over 250 people came together to enjoy the first of North East Lincolnshire Council’s Family Hub Summer Fun Days at Central Family Hub this week.

The event marked the beginning of a series of seven fun-filled days taking place across the borough’s Family Hubs, designed to bring families and communities together in a  welcoming environment.

Children of all ages joined in the excitement, taking part in a wide range of activities—from face painting and hair braiding to crafts, a lively disco, and a scavenger hunt. The star of the show was none other than Bluey, who brought smiles to countless young faces as children queued up to meet her.

A parent who attended the event said:

“My son has loved meeting Bluey and there has been loads to keep him busy. He will definitely need a nap when we get home!”

A variety of local partners joined in the festivities, giving families a valuable opportunity to discover the wide range of services available through their local Family Hubs. The event was not only a celebration of community spirit but also a chance to connect, learn, and feel supported.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, Portfolio Holder for Children and Education said:

“It’s wonderful to see so many families coming together to enjoy these events. The Family Hub Summer Fun Days are a fantastic way to celebrate our community spirit while helping people connect with the support and services available to them.”

The next Summer Fun Day takes place at Queensway Family Hub on the Willows on Thursday 7th August from 10am-2pm.
