To mark Know Your Numbers Week, being held between 8 and 14 September, the UK’s biggest free blood pressure testing and awareness campaign, Blood Pressure UK is urging adults of all ages to get their blood pressure checked – and help find the ‘Missing Millions’.

Around five million adults aged 18–64 in the UK could be living with undiagnosed high blood pressure – a major risk factor for stroke, heart attack, kidney disease, and early death. Often called the ‘silent killer’, high blood pressure has no symptoms, yet it is the single biggest preventable cause of death in the UK.

Approximately, 35,400 adults in North East Lincolnshire are living with high blood pressure. With only 65% of people in England aware they have hypertension, this suggests more than 12,000 adults in our borough could be living undiagnosed.

This year, we will be hosting a series of free community blood pressure testing events, offering an easy and convenient way for people to take charge of their health.
