In the last week the On Freedom’s Wings memorial sculpture of a Lancaster Bomber has been installed in situ alongside the A46 at Norton Disney.

This has rightly received a phenomenal reception.

Having been one of the initial funders in its early stages, the Council is delighted to see the fulfilment of the Bomber Gateway Trust’s aims, achieved through eight years of determination, passion, fundraising and voluntary endeavour.

The trust emphasises that the site (on private land) remains closed for construction, with work still to complete, but that it will be fully opened later in the autumn.

It is testament to the service of Bomber Command and will be a popular addition to the District’s proud aviation heritage offer for visitors at the Heart of Lincs.
